Age 3 Development – Sensory Processing
Sensory Processing (or also known as Integration) is the effective recording (and proper interpretation) of sensory input from the environment (including the person himself). It is the way the brain receives, organizes, and responds to sensory input in order to behave in a meaningful and consistent way.
Developmental Stage
- He takes care of his toilet needs and daily care with help.
- Can review a book by himself.
- Concentrates for 3 minutes.
- Learns to wait in line.
- Begins to explore the environment.
- Shows 5-6 parts of the doll when asked.
- Matches circles and squares
Possible Situations Encountered When It Doesn’t Progress
- May have difficulty socializing and joint attention with peers.
- Due to lack of understanding and attention, he may try to learn by imitating others.
- May have difficulty following directions at home or daycare.
- May experience delays in game skills.
- There may be difficulties with toilet training.
- May have trouble consuming foods with different ingredients (eg, being picky about food).
