1 Year Development – Gross Motor Skills
Gross motor (physical) skills are abilities that require whole-body movement and involve the body’s large (as core stabilizers) muscles to perform everyday actions such as standing, walking, running, and sitting upright. It also includes hand-coordination skills such as ball-playing skills (throwing, catching, hitting).
Developmental Stage
- Turns front to back and back to front.
- Sits first with support and then on its own.
- It creeps forward on your belly.
- Gets into a sitting position without assistance.
- Crawls on hands and knees.
- He moves into different positions, such as sitting, crawling, and lying on his belly.
- It pulls in for balance.
- Walks holding on to furniture.
- Takes 2-3 steps without support.
