4 Years Development – ​​Sensory Processing

Sensory Processing (or also known as Integration) is the effective recording (and proper interpretation) of sensory input from the environment (including the person himself). It is the way the brain receives, organizes, and responds to sensory input in order to behave in a meaningful and consistent way.

Developmental Stage

• Can count from 1 to 5.
• knows many colors.
• Knows the differences between real and artificial world.
• Learns to wait in line. In cases such as laces, buttons and buckles in hard-to-reach places, he can put on and take off his clothes by himself, with help.
• It feeds on itself without difficulty.
• Social situations are imitated through play activities.

Possible Situations Encountered When Not Progressed

• May have difficulty socializing with peers.
• Due to lack of understanding and attention, he may try to learn by imitating others.
• May have difficulty following directions at home, daycare, kindergarten or preschool.
• May have difficulty expressing their wants, needs, thoughts and desires.
• May have trouble consuming foods with different ingredients (e.g. being picky about food)
